At Camp Flintlock, children connect with history by getting a taste of colonial-era life. Campers trade modern comforts for colonial simplicity as they wear 18th-century clothing, cook meals over open fires, chop wood, and sleep in canvas tents—just like early American pioneers. Set in a peaceful wooded campsite in Four Oaks, NC, the immersive experience fosters independence, teamwork, and appreciation for the resourcefulness of our ancestors. Campers stay active and engaged throughout the day with challenges like the Tomahawk Throw, colonial games, and capture the flag along with special themed days and a focus on experiential learning. Leaving their screens behind, participants practice the timeless art of letter-writing, learn traditional songs, and create a lively talent show, each moment offering a chance to build skills, forge friendships, and learn about the past. With its thoughtful programming for children and teens at two locations, Camp Flintlock not only provides a fun escape from the pressures of modern life but also fosters a deeper understanding of history.

About the organization
Camp Flintlock
Camp Flintlock was established in 1999 by Mr. and Mrs. Tim Langdon of Four Oaks, North Carolina, with the idea that "people—particularly children—should have the opportunity to learn about history by living it." What initially began as a Colonial American themed residential summer camp has grown to include day camps, field trips, online events, overnight encampments, and live fife & drum performances, as well as partnerships with several Colonial American historic sites.
